Junior-Professorship for Mathematical Statistics: The Institute for Mathematical Stochastics at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen seeks qualified applicants for a Junior-Professorship for Mathematical Statistics starting on October 1st, 2016 on a temporary basis. For more details see here.
Open position in the RTG 2088: The Research Training Group 2088 seeks qualified applicants for a PhD position in the project A5 "Topological data analysis from a statistical perspective" starting on August 1st 2016. For more details see here.
Next talk in the Stochastics Colloquium: 01.06.2016, 11:15, Prof. Washington Mio (Florida State University)
"Topological Barcode Fields and Data" (Abstract).
Visiting Scientist: From 1st February 2016, Dr. Siekmann will be hosted for six months as a visiting scientist at the Felix Bernstein Institute for Mathematical Statistics in the Biosciences (FBMS). He will work on modelling stochastic mechanisms of signal transduction in human cells. Calcium plays a central role as a messenger in signal transduction. Calcium release from ion channels controls, for example, the heart beat and the initiation of action potentials in nerve cells. Before his return to Germany, Dr. Siekmann has worked for several years at the University of Auckland (New Zealand) and the University of Melbourne (Australia).
